Ann McDougall

Ann McDougall is an actor, writer, and graphic designer/illustrator living in Toronto. She is the author of the upcoming nonfiction book A Ghost in the Room: Supernatural Adventures in Historic Houses, which will be published by Tidewater Press in October 2025. The book began as an essay, The Haunted, which was longlisted for the 2022 CBC Nonfiction Prize. Learn more about A Ghost in the Room here. As a storyteller, Ann has been featured at the Toronto Storytelling Festival, SPEAK, 1,001 Friday Nights of Storytelling, The Spit, and numerous other festivals.

Ann has had an eclectic career, working as an actor in children’s theatre, a historian and guide in historic house museums, and a graphic designer and illustrator for the green energy industry. Most recently she has returned to acting and has appeared onscreen and as a voice actor in a range of commercials, short films, and podcasts.
